Option 1: Updating via the Auto-Updater
As of version 1.3.0 of the SwiftModders WHMCS Theme Installer, you can now update your theme directly from the Theme Installer module. When a new update is detected, you will see an alert in multiple areas within the module. Before using the Auto-Updater, please keep in mind that the feature is in BETA and experimental. Before attempting to update your production environment, you should run the updater on a development installation first.
Option 2: Manually from the Client Area
1. Download the latest version of the SwiftModders WHMCS Admin Theme
Head to the Client Area and navigate to “Services”> “My Licenses”. You should see a list of all your theme purchases and click your “SwiftModders WHMCS Admin Theme” license.
Take advantage of the notice at the top of the page that allows you to download the latest version using the “Download Now” button.
2. Unzip the download to your local machine
After downloading the Theme Installer, you will need to unzip the files compressed file onto your local machine. There are many different tools you can use to handle this, and both Windows and Macs have built-in uncompression tools. My preference for Windows machines would WinRAR, but you’re free to use the tool you feel most comfortable with.
For more information on how to unzip a file, please read this tutorial on WikiHow.
3. Upload the files to your WHMCS installation
Once your ZIP file has been extracted, you can now upload the theme files to your WHMCS installation. The best way to do this would be to use your favorite FTP program. I use SmartFTP and FileZilla regularly to handle my FTP uploads, but more modern control panels like cPanel and DirectAdmin have File Managers available as well.
In the theme folder, look for the “upload” folder. Upload the contents of this directory to the root directory of your WHMCS installation (only the contents of the “upload” directory). This will add the necessary theme files into the appropriate folders so that the Theme Installer will recognize the theme is available for install.
*Notice: For security reasons, you may have changed the name of the “admin” folder within your WHMCS installation. Before uploading, be sure to change the “admin” folder within the “upload” folder to the same name as your WHMCS admin portal directory.
4. Access the Theme Installer and update the theme
Once your upload has completed, you will need to login to your WHMCS admin portal and navigate to “Addons”> “SwiftModders WHMCS Theme Installer.” You should now see an “Update” option available next to your theme installation. If you do not see this option, make sure you have uploaded the theme folder to the correct location. If you continue to have problems, please open a support ticket.
Click on the “Update” button, and the process will start immediately. The Theme Installer will run any necessary MySQL database changes for this update. Once completed, you will receive a notification stating the update is done. The update will also recompile your settings automatically, so you should not have to recompile them yourself. If you notice your theme looks incorrectly, please try to run the recompile manually by clicking on “Edit Settings” and clicking the “Recompile” button.
Congratulations, your SwiftModders WHMCS Admin Theme update is now complete! As always, if you have any issues during the installation process, please be sure to open a support ticket.
