Option 1: Updating via the Auto-Updater
You can update your theme directly from the Theme Installer plugin. When a new update is detected, you will see an alert in multiple areas within the plugin. If you’ve received an update notification that is not displayed in the plugin, you can force an update refresh by clicking on the “refresh” icon next to the theme version.
The auto-updater will contact the SwiftModders servers to check for a new release and return the information to you. From here, you can choose how you wish to proceed with the update. To get started, click on “Auto Update”.
The updater will run through a series of steps to ensure your theme is updated successfully:
- Perform a backup of your theme files in case a rollback is necessary.
- Download the latest version of the theme from the SwiftModders AWS S3 instance.
- Unpackage and replace all necessary files from the download.
- Update the theme SQL database (if necessary).
- Finally, recompile the custom CSS and clear the cache.
Once all these steps have been completed, you will see a success message on your screen. You’ll be all set to continue using your theme as normal.
Option 2: Manually from the Client Area
1. Download the latest version of the theme
Log into your account and navigate to the Downloads page (“My Services”> “Downloads”). You should see a list of all your theme purchases and click the download link.
2. Unzip the download to your local machine
After downloading the theme, unzip the compressed file onto your local machine. You can use many different tools to handle this, and both Windows and Macs have built-in uncompression tools. For more information on how to unzip a file, please read this tutorial on WikiHow.
3. Upload the files to your Blesta installation
Once your ZIP file has been extracted, you can upload the theme files to your Blesta installation. Using your favorite FTP client is the best way to do this.
In the theme folder, look for the “upload” folder. Upload the contents of the “upload” directory, not the folder itself, to the root directory of your Blesta installation (only the contents of the “upload” directory). This will replace all of the necessary theme files with the latest version.
4. Access the Theme Installer and update the theme
Once your upload has been completed, log in to your Blesta admin account and click on the “Theme Installer” menu item. You should now see a new button called “Update” available. If you do not see this option, make sure you have uploaded the theme folder to the correct location. If you continue to have problems, please open a support request.
Click the “Update” button, and the process will start immediately. The Theme Installer will run any necessary MySQL database changes for this update. Once completed, you will receive a notification stating the update is done. The update will also recompile your settings automatically, so you should not have to recompile them yourself.
Congrats! Your theme update is now complete. As always, if you have any issues during the installation process, please be sure to open a support request.
